30-Day Faith Journey

Hebrews 12:2 NIRV says, “Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Welcome to The Shepherd’s Sheep 30-day faith journey.  When we started our blogging journey, we wanted to encourage others with food allergies. This blog is a testimony to God’s grace and mercy in our lives despite living with food allergies. Our testimony is that God is bigger than any obstacle or hardship in our lives, and we have learned to faithfully journey towards a deeper relationship with God!

What is a faith journey?

This 30-day faith journey is a spiritual journey for anyone who wants to seek God intimately and to know Jesus through faith—it is for anyone who wants to intimately know the God who is bigger than any obstacle or challenge.

The inspiration for this 30-day faith journey originated from the Asbury College Revival of 1970.  Six students at Asbury College started a revival by spending 30 days reading the Bible and in prayer asking God to come to their campus.  The students eagerly waited, and God came to Asbury College in a mighty way.

If you have never heard of this revival, I encourage you to search for a video to watch some first-hand accounts of the moment in time when God came to Asbury College.  This revival will encourage you to jump feet first into this 30-day faith journey to grow in faith and to seek God.

I decided to take a 30-day faith journey this past summer with the encouragement of a few friends, and my faith journey experience was amazing.  We each had a different daily routine, but we each took 30 minutes each day to read the Bible, listen to the Holy Spirit, and eagerly wait for the presence of Jesus.  This 30-day spiritual journey was life-altering with God’s presence, joy, and peace. I am forever changed by my faith journey experience.

What do we do on a faith journey?  We ask Jesus to come so that we might know God more intimately.

I can say, for certain, that God came through the Holy Spirit, and he brought healing and repentance with him. During those 30 days, I reconciled with an old friend, my son shared his heart freely, and my daughter experienced healing and restoration with dance and a foot injury. We had restored relationships, repented sins, forgiveness, grace, and mercy with God and with each other.

Today is the day to start a 30-day faith journey to spend time with Jesus and to eagerly wait for him. Take on this spiritual journey or make it a group challenge with some friends.  You will be overwhelmed by the intimacy with God if you faithfully journey.

I am about to embark on a new 30-day journey myself with a group of friends.  I am sure that it will be life-changing for each of us.

How to start a faith journey:  Commit to 30 minutes every day for 30 days to grow your faith in Jesus Christ.

How do you complete this journey:  Read the Bible, be still, listen, and EAGERLY WAIT for Jesus to come!

Use a combination of these activities to complete 30 minutes daily during the 30-day Faith Journey:

  1. Read the Bible daily

    John 17_17 NIV

God heals, speaks, and sanctifies through his Word.  Reading, studying, and memorizing scripture is God’s way to sanctify you by the truth because the Bible is true, and reading scriptures will heal your soul.

John 17:17 NIV says, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”

  1. Pray

God still answers prayer

Philippians 4:6 NIV says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God.”

Make a list of prayer requests.  There is no magical way to pray, just speak to God.  Thank, trust, and present your prayer requests to God through Jesus, the Christ.

  1. Be Still and ListenJohn 10: 27

Psalms 46:10 NIV says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

John 10:27 NIV says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

As the name Shepherd’s Sheep implies, we are God’s sheep, and God is the Good Shepherd.  Sheep follow their shepherd’s voice during every step of their lives.  If we learn to hear God’s voice, then we can faithfully journey towards a deeper relationship with Him.

Being still and listening to God takes time.  Start with sitting in stillness and asking Jesus, the Christ, to overflow in his presence and to meet you where you are.  Start with sitting still in God’s presence for 5 minutes and increase the time as you feel His presence.

  1. Keep a journal

Psalms 106:21 NIV says, “They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt.”

I keep a simple journal so that I will never forget the great things that God has done. My journal is private, and it contains Bible verses, prayers, prayer requests, and answered prayers so that I never forget what God has done and is doing.
