Encouraging Bible Verses About Faith in Hard Times

Bible verses about Faith

At some point, every person faces something giant and difficult in their lives.  Everyone has a Goliath to face. No matter what the giant is, God gives us encouraging Bible verses about faith in hard times.

As a parent in a food-allergy family, I have learned to face a giant that I never dreamed I would ever face.  In fact, I did not know much about food allergies until our family faced them.  It is something we face every day, every meal, and every snack. It is every single food.

One time, my son went on a weekend trip with school.  They were going to eat out for every meal during the weekend.  Most parents just gave their kids money and told them to enjoy the weekend.

We spent a great deal of time researching which potential restaurants our son might visit during the weekend and what foods he might eat during that time.  Then I gave him money and sent him on his way, but I know my son.  He stuck to his list.  He had to have control over the situation, and I had to have faith that he would make the right decisions.

I have spent days and hours praying to God about my family’s food allergies.  I have asked God many times to just take them away and to release us from always going without certain foods and missing certain events.  One day God spoke, “If a special diet was good enough for Daniel, then it’s good enough for your children.” This statement shifted the heaviness and ugly mindset created by food allergies to faith and trust in God.

That moment is when I began to look at Bible verses about faith and trust in God.

What is a good Bible verse for faith? Psalm 34:4Bible verses about faith

Psalm 34:4 (NIV) “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

As a young man in Bible times, Daniel lived in similar times to our modern day.  The Babylon king and his army had invaded Daniel’s nation, and he had taken Daniel and some other young men to serve in the king’s court. Rather than eating the king’s foods, Daniel and his friends chose vegetables and water.  This diet proclaimed that these men trusted God and that God was in control.  God proved that He was faithful by protecting Daniel’s friends after they were thrown into a fiery furnace and later protecting Daniel in a lion’s den.

The good news is that God is still in control today!  God can be trusted, and we can have full assurance and faith even in the midst of food allergies. Yes, we still have food allergies, but the food allergies do NOT keep us in bondage to a mindset and obsessive thinking from the constant fear and control. Because God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross, my family has been set free from the mental heaviness and obsession of food allergies, and we are thankful that God provides food that keeps each member of our family safe and healthy.

To put it simply, we live without gluten, milk, and eggs, but these food allergies do not control our mindset or create obsessive thinking.  Jesus gives us freedom and peace to be thankful for the foods that keep us safe and healthy. God is in control today, so have faith and trust him!
